The Andreana Research Group
"It's the SWEET smell of success" that drives our group to find new carbohydrate-based ways for vaccine design and development. Using a naturally occuring zwitterionic polysaccharide as a "carrier" allows us to explore new immunological questions incorporating known tumor, or otherwise, carbohydrate antigens.
Other current areas of interest include cascade or domino reactions for biologically validated small molecule motifs, examination of tuberculosis from a pseudo carbohydrate perspective and synthesizing known natural products using many of the green chemistry principles.
