Hudson Award: Nominations are now being accepted for the 2019 Hudson Award!

The Claude S. Hudson Award was established by the Division in 1946 to recognize outstanding contributions to carbohydrate chemistry in education, research, or applications. The biennial award is presented in odd-numbered years.

The Melville L. Wolfrom Award acknowledges outstanding service to the Division and to the field of carbohydrate chemistry.

 The Derek Horton Award in Industrial Carbohydrate Chemistry Award acknowledges distinguished achievements in and outstanding contributions to industrial carbohydrate chemistry. 

The Horace S. Isbell Award acknowledges excellence in and promise of continued quality of contribution to research in carbohydrate chemistry. The winner must be under the age of 45 at the time of the award.

The David Y. Gin New Investigator Award acknowledges and encourages outstanding contributions to research in carbohydrate chemistry by scientists in the first seven years of their independent career. 

Claude S. Hudson Award

Claude S. Hudson Award: A biennial award presented in odd-numbered years at the Spring ACS National Meetings

The Claude S. Hudson Award was established by the Division in 1946 to recognize outstanding contributions to carbohydrate chemistry in education, research, or applications. The biennial award is presented in odd-numbered years.

Eligibility: A nominee must have made outstanding contributions to carbohydrate chemistry. The award will be granted without regard to age or nationality.

Establishment & Support: The award was established in 1946 and administered by the ACS Division of Carbohydrate Chemistry. The National Starch, LLC. assumed sponsorship of the award in 1995. The award was financed by the ACS Division of Carbohydrate Chemistry in 1994 and 1995. Merck Research Laboratories sponsored the award from 1983 to 1993. The award has been financed by the ACS Division of Carbohydrate Chemistry in 2013.

2017 Recipient - Professor David Crich, Schaap Professor of Organic Chemistry at Wayne State University, Detroit, MI.
